FORT CLARENCE BEACH IN JAMAICA

Fort Clarence beach is public beach on the outskirts of Kingston Jamaica. Fort Clarence beach is the premier beach in and around the capital city of Jamaica. The beach has a narrow strip of white sands and is about 1,200m long. The swimming is good, but since
the beach is open, when strong seas are running to small breakers sometimes deters timid swimmers at the Kingston Jamaica beach. The Fort Clarence beach is a pay beach and it costs only JMD$100.00 to visit the beach. To the left of the roundabout there are two major shops on the Fort Clarence beach. The Fort Clarence beach area has been developed with a few small Kingston Jamaica hotels and guest houses serving tourists seeking a very quiet seaside location. There is a public access to the beach with a small parking area called Hellshire beach. Adjacent is a bar and showers/changing/toilets but these facilities were not open on a quiet weekday out of season in November. There are a few simple Jamaican restaurants in the village. The presence of tourists attracts a few hawkers to the beach to sell their wares.

Fort Clarence beach, is only hours from down town Kingston. Although shown on maps as a small beach, the name Fort Clarence beach is more common than many other Jamaican beaches. These two rival Kingston Jamaica beaches each have their small niche. Fort Clarence beach receives considerably less rain than any other areas in Jamaica. Isolated by both distance and spirit from Jamaica's main tourist areas, Fort Clarence beach lacks all-inclusive resorts, large-scale development, chain resorts and the numerous Kingston Jamaica beach sellers. Small local Jamaican cook shops and rustic beach shack bars serve Jamaican conch recipes and pumpkin soups, steamed fish, jerk chicken recipes and seafood. A handful of small restaurants, a bakery, a bike rental shop, tiny bars, provision/gift shops and the majority of accommodations are centered in the Port more area. The Fort Clarence beach is ideal for snorkeling, fishing and swimming. There are trips on jet skis.

The Kingston Jamaica beach has other great attractions such as a cave on the far end of the beach and excellent seating areas. There is a life guard on hand to assist with any problems that might occur as patrons utilize the Kingston Jamaica beach. The beach is approximately 1 hour away from the nearest hospital and less than 20 minutes from the closest gas station. The Kingston Jamaica beach is open during the hours of 7:00AM to 7:00PM at night. However the venue is prime for Jamaican dancehall events and is a popular night spot for lovers. The Kingston Jamaica beach does have adequate parking facilities but should improve slightly as the Kingston beach employs three beat security guards. We recommend the Fort Clarence beach a must visit for both locals and tourists to the capital of Jamaica.
